THIS IS MY BRAIN! A BOOK ON NEURODIVERSITY written and illustrated by Elise Gravel

Elise Gravel’s THIS IS MY BRAIN! A BOOK ON NEURODIVERSITY brings a needed tone to books for children to explain neurodiversity. Playfulness of Gravel’s illustrations and words are engaging and their interplay is beautifully integrated with the well-organized factual view of how brains work– how they learn at different speeds and in different ways. Examples are both comic and clear as cartoon figures display the differences, for example of how brains interpret loud music, or dogs. Imagery is child-relatable in describing a world where brains are “wearing different colored glasses” and the realities of conflicts and challenges that can emerge and how different views make for putting ideas together perfectly. Note my mislabeling of this book as fiction in this reel, Gravel gives the brain that much characterization!  Find out more about this book in the purchase link below.
