White House Secrets

WHITE HOUSE SECRETS: MEDICAL LIES AND COVER-UPS written by Gail Jarrows and read by Jonathan Todd Ross

Gail Jarrow’s YA nonfiction, WHTE HOUSE SECRETS: MEDICAL LIES AND COVER-UPS, is wise in many ways. First there’s the format which has larger print that’s continually relieved by drawings and photographs. Then there are the dramatic stories she tells—how Garfield died not from an assassination attempt but dirty surgeon’s fingers and instruments poking and prodding at the bullet trapped in his body. He was replaced by Chester Arthur who went on a yachting fishing trip that covered up for a shipboard operation for his mouth cancer. Facts are illuminated with the stories that speak loudly to illuminate the history of secrets kept by White House presidents, families and staff. This readable book makes a great audio translation. Find a link to the book and audio in the purchase button below.
