Little Monk Writes Rain

LITTLE MONK WRITES RAIN written by Hsu-Kung Liu and illustrated by Rachel Wang Yung-Hsin

Hsu-Kung Liu writes and illustrates LITTLE MONK WRITES RAIN, a story about a devoted Little Monk who daily fetches water, sweeps and cooks until the day Old Monk teaches him, on a day of downpour, how to draw the character for “Rain.” Little Monk adds this to his ritual and grows up following his patterns until 20 years later he has become Big Monk and his practice is released to a drought-filled community bringing rain. The book is unusual in story as it is in Rachel Wang Yung-Hsin’s meaningful water color and ink renderings that are revealed vertically, miming Asian scrolls.  You can find a link to this book in the purchase tab below.
