How to be a Proper OGRE

HOW TO BE A PROPER OGRE written by Kelly Dipucchio and illustrated by Jane Bynum

Kelly Dipucchio’s HOW TO BE A PROPER OGRE has a new outsider tale that begins when new ogres are hatched from a swamp and welcomed by their proud parents. There’s the revolting Hairy Knuckles, disgusting Crusty Boogers, and…an adorable improper looking child. What should the family name her—Moldy Cheese, Diaper Rash, Rusty Bucket don’t seem like appropriate names and so Mary Beth is welcomed into her new family with love. While her different appearance doesn’t raise questions, her behavior does. Janie Bynum’s illustrations show a sweet looking little girl but she does not want to be the GOOD or ADORABLE. She proves her love and ogre-ness when a greedy Prince threatens her family. The ending is somewhat predictable but carries the moment with a drama that makes it surprising. You can find a link to the book in the purchase button below.
