National Geographic has published a 2nd edition of their SCIENCE ENCYCLOPEDIA. There is so much to recommend this volume. It is wisely designed—three main categories—physical science, space and earth sciences, and life science are separated into eight themes which are color-distinguished—matter, energy, electronics, forces and machines, the universe, planet earth, life on earth and the human body. Each is shown to brilliance with attention-grabbing illustrations, trivia that captivates and clear, short specific bits of word descriptions.
