ECHO written and illustrated by Adam Rex, read by Mark Sanderlin

Adam Rex’s ECHO recounts an important remaking of a myth of the Narcissus myth that sadly fits our current time all too well. Illustrations and words picture Junior Junior’s limited access to others and addiction he has to the affirming voice that echoes across a canyon to let him know that he “is the greatest in the world.” This serves in contrast to his new neighbor who discounts his faulty reasoning and won’t budge on telling her truth. Unlike the current narcissists running our country, Junior Junior realizes the hollowness of the echo’s words and that he’d prefer real relationship than false adoration. Mark Sanderlin’s audio rendition is superb on echoing and brattiness. You can find out more about this book and audio at the purchase link below.
