I SURVIVED THE BATTLE OF D-DAY, 1944 written by Lauren Tarshis, illustrated by Brian Churilla

Lauren Tarshis’s I Survived books are now available in graphic novel format, a fabulous combination in the case of my grandson who’s a fan of both genre and series. I sampled I SURVIVED THE BATTLE OF D-DAY, 1944 which is illustrated by Brian Churilla. Tarshis brings to life the character of Paul, a boy living in a French village near the beaches of D-Day. We learn of all situations of various importance from no sugar from his mother’s birthday to a Jewish best friend who’s been captured by the Nazis and an adored teacher shot by them. The specific makes the situation more real as Paul’s situation evolves and the images of the quiet night before D-Day and the bomb-lit night reveal as much! There’s more information about this book in the purchase link below.
