Mac Barnett and Isabelle Arsenault’s board book JUST BECAUSE reinforces a concept little discussed for young children—imagination! Pictured in gray tones is a darkened bedroom, a daughter actively asking questions from her bed as her thoughtful father who tries to answer. The answers are lyrical and illustrations echo them with a visual poetry. The ocean is blue because “every night, when you go to sleep, the fish take out guitars.
