The Last Tiger

THE LAST TIGER by Julia and Brad Riew, read by Julia Riew, Joshua Hyunho Lee and others

Julia and Brad Riew were inspired to THE LAST TIGER because of their grandparents’ forbidden love in early 20th century Korea amid colonization by Japan and expand this tale with folklore and magical elements. Julia Riew reads Eunji’s chapters, introducing a Korean girl who feels trapped in her wealthy life. Joshua Hyunho Lee reads those of Seung, picturing a servant who seeks to better himself with Eunji’s tutoring. Riew expresses Eunji joys at excursions into the world with Seung while Lee shows Seung’s despair at his father’s death, failing his exam, government oppression and Eunji’s arranged marriage to a son of the Dragon (Japanese) Empire. Through fantastical elements and love, the couple is united, finds freedom and saves the last tiger. Intae and Sue Jean Kim read periodic bits representing the Riews’ wise grandparents.  Find a link to the book and audio in the purchase button below.
