THE LITTLEST DROP written by Sascha Alper and illustrated by Brian Pinkney and Jerry Pinkney
Brian Pinkney completes the last work of his father, Jerry, who was only able to finish sketching a parable retold around the world by Wangari Maathai. THE LITTLEST DROP features a tiny hummingbird who has just built her nest when a fire breaks out. She carries drops of water from river to flame again and again for her tiny beak can hold “just the littlest drop of water.” When larger animals question her actions, she answers “I am doing what I can.” She inspires elephant, ants, chimpanzees, leopards, lions, aardvarks and others to do the same. Together, though exhausted by their efforts, extinguish the fire. You can find out more about this book at the purchase link below.
