Diana Urban’s UNDER THE SURFACE is a gripping YA with two narrators who picture viewpoints of Ruby and Sean, fellow French class students on the verge of falling in love who go in Paris for an experience abroad. Rebecca Soler measures Ruby’s mix of desire to create content for her Youtube channel and her reticent to sneak out of the hotel for an illegal party in the catacombs with three more daring friends. Soler’s narration increases in drama as the plot under the surface increases in twists and turns when Ruby and her friends become lost and then are stalked by an underground cult. Solter voices Ruby’s tender thoughts about Sean and her mother that died at her birth. These provide pacing relief. Meanwhile, on the surface, Max Meyer portrays Sean who tirelessly, diligently fights to rescue the girl he loves. There’s more information about this book and the audio in the purchase link below.
